Shibuya Station to Shibuya Sky: Entrance and Arrival Guide

Being directly connected to Shibuya Station does not make Shibuya Sky’s entrance obvious from every platform. The important destination is the reception on the 14th floor of Shibuya Scramble Square. Plan the station-to-building part of the visit separately from the timed entry printed on your ticket.

Aim for Shibuya Scramble Square, not just the crossing

Shibuya Sky occupies the upper levels and rooftop of Shibuya Scramble Square at 2-24-12 Shibuya. The building is directly connected to the station, while the ticket entrance and reception are on the 14th floor. Follow signs for the building and observatory, not just signs pointing toward the famous street crossing.

Do not confuse it with the crossing-view attraction at MAGNET by SHIBUYA109. That is a different building and a different admission product. If your map or booking confirmation refers to another rooftop, check the attraction name and address before you start walking.

Use the operator’s access guide for your arrival line

Shibuya Station serves several railway and subway lines, and platform-to-exit journeys differ. There is no single useful walking time from every train to the reception. Use the operator’s current access page and station signs to identify the route from your own line, especially if you are arriving underground.

If you become unsure, ask station or building staff for Shibuya Scramble Square and the Shibuya Sky entrance. Avoid following an old screenshot of one exit through a station whose circulation routes can change. Give yourself time to correct a wrong turn without missing the booked window.

Reach the 14th floor before the entry window becomes tight

Your ticket time is an admission appointment, not a suggested time to get off the train. You still need to find the building, reach the correct floor and follow the entry instructions. The operator warns that late arrivals may be refused, so do not rely on a universal grace period.

Have the voucher ready before joining the admission process. Follow the requirements on the actual booking, not a screenshot from a different seller: Klook’s current listing, for example, says to bring the mobile voucher and passport and warns that identity checks may occur.

Allow for the locker step before the roof

After reception, the journey continues upward through the observatory. Before entering the roof, bags and other prohibited belongings must be put away in the dedicated 46th-floor lockers. This takes time even when you are carrying only a small day bag.

Leave a suitcase elsewhere before coming to the building. The operator specifically asks visitors not to bring large luggage, and a full station-area locker is easier to solve before you are committed to an entry queue. Keep enough time after the visit to return for anything stored away from the attraction.

Keep the nearby walk flexible

The crossing and Hachiko area can fit into the same visit to Shibuya, but they should not become a tightly timed circuit immediately before admission. Busy crossings, crowds and a stop for photographs can take longer than a map suggests. Keep a short walk before the observatory optional if your train runs late.

Afterward, leave room for a meal or another local stop rather than scheduling a distant attraction straight away. GO TOKYO suggests around 90 minutes for the observatory itself, and your total block should also cover station navigation, entry, lockers and leaving the building.

Confirm a lift route when stairs are not practical

For step-free arrival, treat the station route and the observatory route as two separate questions. Find the appropriate station elevator for your line, then ask the attraction staff about its priority lifts. The operator advises people using wheelchairs, strollers or mobility aids to speak to nearby staff.

A personal stroller may be useful on the way to reception but is not permitted on the roof. Check the limited approved loan-stroller arrangements in advance. Making those decisions before you travel is more useful than expecting staff at a busy entry point to resolve the entire route at once.

Reception and the ticket entrance are on the 14th floor of Shibuya Scramble Square. The indoor gallery and rooftop are reached later in the visit.
How long does it take to walk from Shibuya Station?

Is Shibuya Sky the same as MAGNET’s crossing viewpoint?
No. Shibuya Sky is in Shibuya Scramble Square. The viewpoint at MAGNET by SHIBUYA109 is a separate attraction with its own admission.
